Chat is where most of your work happens. Ask for a draft, give it your own material, and keep refining in the same conversation until it's ready to post.

Give it your own material#

Attach files so replies are based on your brief, your brand guide or your last campaign, not guesswork.

  1. In the message box, select Upload files.
  2. Pick files from your library or add new ones. Each file can be up to 20 MB.
  3. Type your request and send.

PDFs, Word documents, text files and images all work. Images are read too, so you can ask for feedback on a design or a caption for a photo.

Attachments stay in the message box for your next messages, so you can keep asking about the same files. Select the X on a file to remove it.

Get up-to-date answers#

Web search is always on. When a request needs current information, like news, prices, trends or a company's latest updates, Social Bellow searches the web and uses what it finds in the reply. You don't need to turn anything on.

Choose a model#

The model name is shown in the message box. Select it to switch to another model from OpenAI or Anthropic. Models differ in speed, depth and cost:

  • Faster, lighter models are great for captions, hashtags and quick rewrites.
  • Larger models are better for long articles, careful reasoning and reviewing designs.

Some models are marked as needing a paid plan. Each request uses SB tokens in proportion to the model's cost, so a lighter model makes your monthly allowance go further. See Plans & SB tokens.

Start from an app prompt#

App prompts are ready-made starting points for common jobs. Pick one and add your topic or keywords, and Social Bellow knows what kind of content you want. They include:

WritingSocialBusiness
ArticlePostEmail
Blog PostSocial Media PostPress Release
EssayCaptionsProduct Description
StoryHashtagsRespond
How-toHeadlinesRewrite

Assistant is a general helper for anything else, and Discuss, Idea and Prompt help you think a topic through, brainstorm, or write a better prompt.

To pick one, select the prompt name at the top of the chat (Choose a prompt).

Save your own prompts#

If you ask for the same kind of content often, save it as a prompt and reuse it with one click.

  1. Open Account, then the Prompts tab.
  2. Choose New prompt.
  3. Give it a name and a short description, then write the instructions in the prompt text. For example: "Write a weekly newsletter intro for our bakery. Warm, local, under 120 words. End with this week's special."
  4. Save it.

Your saved prompts are listed under Your prompts, and the built-in ones under App prompts. You can edit, hide or delete your own prompts, and hide app prompts you don't use.

Create a persona#

A persona changes how Social Bellow behaves for the whole conversation, not just one reply. Use one for a brand voice, a role ("You are our social media manager…") or house rules ("Always use British spelling").

To make a prompt a persona, turn on Use as system prompt / persona when you create or edit it, or choose Use as persona on a saved prompt. Personas are marked Persona in Your prompts.

Pick up where you left off#

Your past chats are saved. Open the sidebar in Chat to search them, then reopen one and carry on where you stopped.

Keep your best drafts in Docs#

Docs is your library of documents: drafts you want to keep, briefs, and files you've uploaded.

  • Create a document or upload one, and edit it in the editor.
  • Choose Use in chat to add a document to a conversation as context.
  • Open a reply from a past chat with Edit response in Docs to polish it there.
  • Download a document when it's ready.

Tips for better results#

  • Say who it's for and where it will be posted: "for first-time home buyers, on Facebook".
  • Give the length and format: "three options, under 50 words each".
  • Paste an example of the style you like and ask for "more like this".
  • Ask for changes in the same chat instead of starting over.
